EB-Haus Austria

The EB-Haus Austria – opened November 2005 – is situated on the campus of the General Hospital Salzburg (Landeskliniken Salzburg, SALK) and affiliated with the Department of Dermatology of the Paracelsus Private Medical University (PMU) Salzburg. It is open to all individuals with the congenital and so far incurable skin disease Epidermolysis Bullosa (abbreviated EB), as well as to their families.

With the setup of the EB-Haus Austria, DEBRA Austria - founded in 1995 as a patient group by and for people with EB - has achieved one of its many goals, that is a center point for cutting-edge medical treatment and for targeted research that contributes to the chances of finding a cure for EB.

The EB-Haus Austria has 3 main parts:

  • At the EB Outpatient Unit, doctors and therapists provide state of the art medical advice, treatment, and support.

  • At the EB Research Laboratory, a research team works on techniques with the ultimate goal to find a cure by developing a successful molecular therapy.

  • At the EB Academy, continuous multi-disciplinary education and training for laypersons and experts is provided.

Together we want to give the „butterfly children“ at the EB-Haus Austria a home and hope for the future.
